Schwab and his associates win their fight to acquire control of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company for Bethlehem Steel, they may have to convince the department of justice that such a merger does not violate the Sherman anti-trust law. The department of justice, It was learned today. Is following closely the developments at Youngstown. It also was disclosed that the department has followed the expansion program of the Republic Steel Corporation which recently absorbed Central Alloy Steel of Canton, 0., and Donner Steel of '’uffalo, and is reported to be seeking control of Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Attorney-General Mitchell’s attitude is that the Sherman anti-trust law is not a dead letter, and that it will be his duty to enforce this law "without prejudice and with fairness, but with firmness,” until it has been abandoned by congress. In a speech before the American Bar Association last October, Mitchell said hr had no power to amend the Sherman law, nor any desire to permit a misconception of the department’s attitude. There has been no change in his attitude since then, he said today. LAST RITES ARE HELD FOR MRS. DOEBBER tVifeof Gas Company Official Was Life-Long Resident of City. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Flanner Buchanan mortuary, 25 West Fall Creek boulevard, for Mrs. Vera Marian DoeMyr, wife of Frederick A. Doebber, ffic manager of the Citizens Gas Company. Mrs. Doebber died at her home, 3918 North New' Jersey street Wednesday. Mrs. Doebber, daughter of Major and Mrs. Orison Perry Lee, was born in this city, where she spent almost all her life. Survivors are the husband; four children, Juanita Rose. Anne Barbara June, Frederick Irving and Carolyn Lee, all at home; her mother, Mrs. Rise Ada Lee; two sisters, Mrs. Walter E. Hansen and Mrs. Fred H. Rosebrock, and a brother, W. O. Lee. Indianapolis. CENSUS TAKERS GIVEN FINAL INSTRUCTIONS 500 Begin Wednesday to Gather Enumeration Data. Final instructions were given 500 census enumerators Thursday night by Delbert O. Wilmeth, supervisor, in preparation for the work which begins Wednesday. Each worker was given certain territory in which to gather the data for the federal census and was instructed not to work in territory of teammates Wilmeth also directed enumerators not to waste time but to put in "eight working hours each day.” .
