Survey Will Be Made by Committee As an outgrowth of a meeting held recently at the Propylaeum and attended by representatives from sixteen women’s organizations of the state to consider working conditions of women in Indiana, a committee will be appointed Tuesday at a meeting at the Y. W. C. A. to promote a survey of industrial conditions, by a member of the woman's bureau of the department of labor. Washington. The original meeting was called by the public affairs committee of the Y. W. C. A., Mrs. R. E. Adkins, chairman. Those who will be named on the permanent committee Tuesday are Mrs. Adkins. Mrs. Robert Szold. New York, nat .ual president of Hadassch. will be th? principal speaker at a mass meeting to be held under the auspices’ of the Indianapolis chapters of Senior and Junior Hadassah and the Indianapolis Zionist district Monday night, March 31, at the Kirshbaum Community center. Mrs. Szold has been active in Hadassah wgfk for the past ten years, having been national secretary, vice-president and now president. She was elected in June, 1928. Hadassah, with a membership of 50,000. raises funds for the maintenance of a system of medical social service in Palestine.

Mrs. Louden Elected at Conference Mrs. T. J. Louden, Bloomington, unanimously was elected first vicepresident of the Indiana League of Women Voters at the closing session of the two-day conference in the Travertine room of the Lincoln Friday afternoon. Other officers who were chosen are: Second vice-president, Mrs. S. N. Campbell, Indianapolis; treasurer. Mrs. Ora Thompson Ross, who was re-elected, and Mrs. H. R. Mlsener, Michigan City, and Mrs. Oliver Starr, directors. Resolutions presented Mrs. Charles N. Teetor, president* and Mrs. Ralph Carter, secretary, will remain in office another year. Active work lor a constitutional convention “provided that a satisfactory central organization is perfected to promote interest in the referendum and to safeguard the convention if called;” reiteration of belief in the direct primary with the further suggestion that its scope include all state officials and United States senators, and improvement to make nominations more representative; indorsement of a permanent registration law and the operation of a federal children's bureau, were included in the resolutions presented Friday afternoon at the closing meeting. Willis Is Speaker Mrs. J. E. Moring talked on “Plans for the Ft. Wayne League” at the morning session, when a report of the credentials committee also was given. Mrs. S. M. Compton, South Bend, spoke on “Social Hygiene" and Mrs. J. A. Neill, Bloomington, on “Child Welfare.” The afternoon session included talk by Professor Hugh E. Willis, Indiana university, on “The Need for a Constitutional Convention.” Mrs. Brown to Deliver Virgil Talk Mrs. Demarchus C. Brown will talk on “Virgil After 2,000 Years,” at a meeting of the Business and Professional Women's Club at 8, Thursday, at the Woman’s Department Club home. The talk will concern Virgil’s philosophy in the light of modern thinking. Miss Edna Frances Phinney will be in charge of the musical program. Miss Eugenia Magidson, contralto; Miss Mary Kline, soprano; Charles Erwin, baritone, and George Erber, bass, will give selections. Mrs. Foster Hudson, violinist, and Miss Phinney, harpist, will accompany the singers. Miss Magidson will be accompanied by Miss Gerna Myers. During the forum hour, Miss Gertrude Lieber, chairman of the personnel research committee, will give a report of the findings of her committee and the report of the national research work done by the women’s dean of the University of Michigan. Carnival Acts on Program at Skating Party Members of Alpha Latreian Club, who are sponsoring a skating party at the Riverside park rink Monday night, March 31, have made arrangements for a carnival, in addition to the skating, including many entertaining features. The carnival events, according to Mrs. Louis Hensley, chairman of the entertainment committee, will feature Louise Pursell Powell and Allen Carey, in an original dance group. Assisting the dancers will be Mrs. Frederick Balz, palmist; Mr* Ovid Butler Jameson, who will re&* horoscopes, and Martha Jolllffe, w'fti will make silhouettes. Surprise acts have been planned, and prizes will be distributed. Proceeds from the event go toward a fund established last year by the club for the Children’s Nutrition camp at Bridgeport.
