the nation now settling accounts for the war it lost. For Germany, adoption of the Young plan means substitution of certainty for uncertainty. It means huge reductions in the payments being made under the Dawes plan, and the resulting stabilization ot industry and public finances, both of which are suffering from the ravages of reconstruction days? “The weakest spot in Germany’s economic position is the deplorable condition in public finance.” a government trade official wrote the commerce department here. “Adoption of the Young plan, through reducing reparation payments, will facilitate Germany's fiscal reorganization.’’ Acceptance of the plan finds unemployment still at an exceptionally high level and industrial and trade conditions showing general hesitation in Germany and neighboring countries. | assessments will be wiped off In- ' diana tax duplicates if the litigai tion is successful, it is estimated. Attacking a provision of statute which prohibits holders of bank stocks from deducting outstanding 1 indebtedness from “the true cash , value of assessments,” the complaint, filed before Superior Judge William S. McMasters, seeks to enj join County Treasurer Clyde E. ' Robinson and County Auditor ! Ham- Dunn from collecting as- , sessments already made against Davis’ holdings in the two local banks. The action climaxes a fight started more than a year ago by A. G. Brown. Greencattle, during his term as president of the State Bankers’ Association, directed at alleged dis- ! crimination by \tax officials in alleged failure to assess intangibles. Attorney General James M. Ogden ; Indicated he will file an intervening petition to oppose the suit in behalf of the state tax board. Davis, as a stockholder, brought j the action “in behalf of himself as i well as others similarly situated.”
