BOOTLEGGER IS OUTCAST UNDER ONTARIO LAW Government Makes Big Profit in Last Year by Sale of Liquor. Bu Unit'd Prt *t TORONTO, Ont.. March 14.—Sale of alcoholic beverages in the province of Ontario during the fiscal year has resulted in a profit of $9,661,443 for the government, it was disclosed in a report made by the Ontario liquor control commission to the provincial legislature. The reports stated total sales reached $55,360,569 representing beverages sold in the 123 liquor stores scattered through the province and 105 breweries and brewery warehouses. A. total of 543,044 permits were Bold during the year. Each permit holder is taxed $2 a year for the privilege, with the exception of tourists permits, which cost $2 and are good only for a short period. The liquor control act, brought into existence in 1927 after Premier G.
