[NAVAL PARLEY |BREAK BALKED | BY BIG POWERS ■ ! /England and United States \ Are Determined to Reach kjh Some Agreement. BY WEBB MILLER ** f*nltd Pres* Staff Correspondent LONDON, March 14—American and British efforts to hold the London naval conference together by main strength until it can show some tangible results have been temporarily successful. Hurried inter-delegation conversations following indications that the conference was on the verge of a breakdown lulled the storm raised by France's refusal to modify her tonnage demands unless she is given a security pact insuring her against aggression. Both England and the United States appear determined to reach an agreement in one form or another. The powers are now convinced that France will not recede from her position. They are also assured that Italy will not waver in her demand for naval parity with France. So the conference will go to work with that understanding. Premier J. Ramsay MacDonald made another determined bus unsuccessful effort yesterday to extract some definite figures on tonnage from Foreign Minister Dino Grand! of Italy. Grandi reiterated that Italy’s position Is unalterable, and argued that since France and Italy were placed on a par at the Washington conference of 1922, he could see no reason for abandoning that theory. DRUGS EXCITE THE KIDNEYS, DRINK WATER Take Salts at First Sign of Bladder Irritation or Backache. The American men and women must guard constantly against kidney trouble because we often eat too much rich food. Our blood Is filled with acids which the kidneys strive to filter out; they weaken from overwork, become sluggish, the eliminative tissues clog and the result is kidney trouble, bladder weakness and a general decline in health. When your kidneys feel like lumps of lead; your back hurts; If you suffer with sick headache, or dizzy, nervous spells, acid stomach, or if you have rheumatism when the weather Is bad, begin drinking lots of good soft water and get from your pharmacist about four ounces of Jad Salts. Take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys may then act fine. This famous salts Is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been used for years to help flush and stimulate clogged kidneys, to neutralize the acids in the system so they no longer are a source of irritation, thus often relieving bladder disorders. Jad Salts Is Inexpensive; can not injure, makes a delightful effervescent lithia-water drink and belongs in every home, because hobody can make a mistake by having a good kidney flushing any time.—Advertisement.

ley, who time and again have seen their homes and farm lands flooded with the recurrence of spring, may rest easier this year. Army engineers do not believe seriously high water is likely. Some lands may be flooded with the coming of the spring tide, but a repetition of the 1927 disaster is
considered wholly improbable. Levees have been raised since, then. The flood control plan enacted after 1927 is moving along at a rate that will require expenditure of $35,000,000 in the next fiscal year, bringing total expenditures at the end of that period to $89,000,000.
