FRENCH COMING BACK TO RENEW NAVAL PARLEY Tardieu Hopes for Speedy Confidence Vote on New Cabinet. BY WILLIAM PHILIP SIMMS Serlpp*-Howard Foreign Editor PARIS, Feb. 28—Andre Tardieu and Aristide Briand will be back in London Thursday next ready to resume negotiations in the naval conference. Such Ls the forecast of those reputed to be “on the inside” of French politics. They are proceeding slowly to allow certain hot political tempers to cool off. Tardieu is expected to announce his new cabinet Saturday and to go before the chamber of deputies Tuesday for a vote of confidence, leaving for London Wednesday. He doubtless will retain a number of the members of his former cabinet, but will try to include leaders of other factions in order as nearly as possible to form a coalition government, or “national union” like that of Poincare's two years ago. Papers Irritated Meantime, news from London continues to irritate French opinion, especially references to the delay caused by the cabinet crisis. French newspapers say the shoe belongs on the other foot. The conference, it is asserted, was so poorly prepared that Tardieu and his -associates were forced to spend useless weeks in London discussing ways and means and methods which should have been settled by diplomatic exchanges before the delegates arrived. Their conclusion is that Tardieu’s long and futile delay in London when he should have been in Paris, was responsible f<?r his overthrow, instead of his overthrow being responsible for the conference delay Mindful of Courtesy Le Matin ironically observes in a dispatch from London: “Other delegations appear to be caught between their duty to the conference and courtesy to absentees. So they continue, they say, to carry on, ever mindful that their decisions must be submitted to the French for their approval. These scruples do delegates honor, but they really are of little consequence. The widest possible search failed to reveal that a single decision had been made or that there was any likelihood of one soon.” Le Temps takes a gloomy view of the conference, saying nobody seems to know where it is or where it is going, and that world opinion has been sadly shaken. The newspaper forecasts it will be ten days before the parley again is under full steam. JURY IS DISCHARGED Fall to Agree on “Scarlet Triangle” Heart Balm Suit. With her alleged love trysts, which she testified were marked in her dairy with triangles of scarlet ink, Mrs. Brandon’s $500,000 suit has played to a capacity house for more than ten days. Bu United Press PARIS, Feb. 28.—A rotund, little man, often seen trotting along by the side of the more majestic king of Spain, his former majesty, the shah of Persia will be missed at Deauville, Biarritz and other sportting centers of France, where he has been a familiar figure since he was deposed and exiled. The date for funeral ceremonies for the former shah, who died Thursday, will be set today. Under the terms of his will, the ceremony will take place with the greatest privacy in the Paris Mosque.
