SPECIAL JUDGE SELECTED FOR LARCENY CASE Swindle Suspect Will Face Trial Five Years After Charge Filing. Prosecutors today were weighing the evidence of three new state's witnesses preparatory to bringing Lyle T. Laub, alleged realty shark, to trial before criminal court jury on charges of embezzlement and grand larceny. With Ralph Kane agreed upon Thursday as trial judge. Prosecutor Paul Rhoadarmer will insist on the trial in April. The charge has been pending five years. In addition to the chief prosecuting witness, William Water.-. 1359 Edgemont avenue, retired soldier, from whom Laub is alleged to have swindled $4.000 in life savings, Rhoadarmer has obtained statements from three other persons bearing on Laub's activities while head of the Realty Finance and Building Company, Indianapolis, now defunct. These persons are Orville Burk and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dermid, 5523 Southeastern avenue, who will testify against Laub. Meanwhile, the defendant is at liberty under the $2,500 bond provided five years ago by Frank Lux, professional bondsman. Methodist Men Meet COLUMBUS. Ind., Feb. 28—Approximately 200 persons attended a session of the Methodist Men's council at the Methodist church here.

Police Slay Intruder INDIANA HARBOR, Ind., Feb. 28. —Police here shot and killed David Vallie. Muskegon, Mich., when he opened fire on officers after they had ordered him to stop. Vallie had forced his way into the home of Francisco Ortego, in the Mexican section, and was threatening to kill Ortego when police attempted arrest. Vallie fired four shots at officers before they shot him through the heart.
CITY PARK JOBS AREJWARDED 22 Employes Reappointed to Municipal Posts. Twenty-two present park employes were reappointed and nineteen persons were named to new positions late Thursday by the park board. Majority of those retained and appointed are Democrats although a few Republicans were included.
