LAWN SEED (A WARNING) For years we have supplied our QUICK GROWING LAWN GRASS SEEDS to thousands of homes in Indianapolis and sent it all over the country. Most of the nice public and private lawns in Indianapolis have been made with this brand of seed. We are as proud of those lawns as the owners are. And when we see a scraggy, weedy lawn, we always feel that the owner has not the proper civic spirit. But his intentions may have been good and he was the victim of unknown conditions. For instance, there has been, and is now being sold in Indianapolis FOUL, WORSE THAN WORTHLESS STUFF as lawn seed. Here is what it analyzed: Kentucky Blue Grass....1.11% The Weed Seeds Were: White Clover.....1.02% in one pound, as follows: Wooly PaniRed Top.....12.02% cum, 4,950; Plantain, 2,250; Sorrel, Alsike, a trace. 2.250; Beige. 1,350: Yarrow. 900; Above are the only seeds that It Primorse, 450; Cinquefoil, 450; Manna contained suitable for a good lawn. Grass 450; Spike Rush 450; Lepidium, Timothy.....67.76% 450; Brown-eyed Susan. 450; BuckWeed Seeds and Inert horn, 450; Rush (many). Total weed Matter.....18.09% seeds to one pound, 14,850. Only 14.15% of real lawn seed, or a little more than 14 pounds to the 100 pounds was in the mixture. Is any price small enough to pay for such trash? Would you knowingly put it on your lawn if paid to do so?
