SHIPPERS ASKED NOT TO DAMAGE SOFT HIGHWAYS 9 State Roads Impassable; Unpaved Surfaces Are Under Restriction. Nine unpavec state roads are impassable at this time according to a bulletin issued bv the state highway department today. Stone and gravel surfaces are subject to load restrictions. Director John J. Brown of the highway department asked cooperation from shippers in keeping the soft roads from being so cut up that they will be made difficult to put Into shape for the heavy traffic season. Road 2—Detour four miles north of Oreensburg is flve miles. Bridge runaround one-half mile north of Relflsburg. Road 14 Detour fourteen miles west of Mlnamac Is one-half mile. Road 18—De'our from Warsaw to three miles south of Leesburg is five miles. U. S. Road 27—Detour from Ft. Wayne to two and one-half miles south of Garrett Is twenty miles; fourteen miles of t which Is pavement.. Road 28— Detour iust west of Tipton Is one and one-half miles. Road 39 —Traffic drive carefully over two temporary bridges at eleven and fourteen miles south of Logansport. Detour from two miles north of Winamac to PulasklStarke county line is ten miles. U. S. Road 31—One-way traffic over temporary bridge six miles south of South Bend; drive slowly over temporary bridge one mile north of Peru. Road 37—Detour near Harrodsburg is three miles. Traffic should drive carefully past uncompleted shoulders between Bedford and Bloomington. Road 38—One mile detour from Hagerstown east Is over old road. Road 39- Detour from Rossvllle to six and one-half miles north is seven and onehalf miles. Road 48—Traffic drive slowly east of Bloomington. Detour fust west of Nashville is two and one-half miles. PARKWAY BONDS ARE ADVERTISED Pleasant Run Project Will Benefit South Side. A resolution authorizing a $75,000 bond issue to improve Pleasant Run parkway, south drive, from Shelby street to Churchman avenue, was advertised today by the park board. Completion of the project this summer will bring about an improvement long sought by the south side. The board recommended to city council that the proposed site for school No. 82 in Christian park at English avenue and Worcester street, be sold to the school board. Jackiel W. Joseph, park commissioner, declared the plan will save the city about $125,000. Charles Sallee, new park superintendent, took over his new’ post, succeeding R. Walter Jarvis. Bids on the $37,000 Thomas Taggart memorial at Riverside park were referred to Park Engineer J. E. Perry for tabulation. The board will pay about $25,000 of the cost and the remainder will be borne by friends of the late Democratic leader. DELEGATES TO BE FETED Annual Old Trails Banquet to Be Held at Severin Tonight. Annual banquet of the Old Trails Automobile Insurance Company will be held at the Severin tonight with Elmer W. Stout, Fletcher American National bank president, and Clarence C. Wysong. state insurance commissioner, as speakers. More than 200 district representatives and sales agents from the state met here today. During the afternoon a business session will be held at the Severin.
