HOARD RETURNS 2 FIREMEN TO REGULAR RANKS Veteran Alarm Operatives Changed Preparatory to Retirement. Commenting that it is unfortunate the Gamewell department fire alarm system is not a unit with the fire department instead of a separate division, Fire Chief Harry Voshell today received back in the fire department William G. Hallentire and Frank Sloan, vete ran Gamewell operatives. The two were transferred back to the regulaf ranks, preliminary to re'irement in case physicians recommend it. George Godwin, fireman 'Axo was assigned on trial to the Gamewell division several weeks ago, was transferred to that department by the board of safety at the time Tallentire and Sloan were transferred. Fire Chief Voshell preferred charges of conduct unbecoming a fireman against Earl Snyder, fireman, assigned to hose company No. 16. after Snyder was suspended by Lieutenant Waiter Gie/endanner. Snyder is charged with coming to the fire house intoxicated. His trial was set by the board of safety for March 11. The board agreed to provide police and fire protection to the town corporation of Woodruff Place for the sum of $9,700 for the year 1930. Woodruff Place paid $7,000 for the same service last year. Commenting upon the transfer of Tallentire and Sloan. Chief Voshell declared them “valuable men who have rendered great service to the city." “We all reach a time in our lives when we cannot render the service demanded by some positions," Chief Voshell said.
