WAR ON COFFIN DOMINATION OF PARTY CONTROL Citizens League Organized to Dictate Naming of G. O. P. Delegates. A vigorous campaign to obtain the election of precinct committeemen and Republican convention delegates not dominated by the Coffin organization was begun today by the newly organized Citizens’ Republican League. Creation of the league which includes in its membership personnel of the Junior Republican Club, the Irvington Republican Club, the newly formed women’s organization and the Marion Club, was consummated Wednesday night in the Marion Club. Johnson, treasurer. Juniors in Support The Junior Republican organization, headed by Rae Powell, will support the movement, it was announced. The platform adopted at the meeting declared that the Republican party should be restored to its former usefulness in Marion county; protested against factional control; asked for reorganization which shall represent all members of the party; urged candidates be selected from the rank and file and not from any particular faction, and that men of character and standing be precinct committeemen. MRS. ELEPHANT IS BOSS OF THIS HOUSE Mamma of the Four Feet Tells Papa to Find Any Happy Hunting Ground With His Very Own Pleasure. BY WALTER D. HICKMAN. MRS. ELEPHANT says to Mr. Elephant, “you do not have to pack your trunk, but you go by-by.” And Mr. Elephant takes his trunk and he goes alone until some rich guy out of New York wants to stuff him. Then he is called a “rogue” for certain reasons and a lot of money takes a camera and a bunch of other things and they make “Hunting Tigers in India ” You hear in the spoken word of the man who lectures that the “rogue” elephant has nothing to say about “mamma” because “Mrs. Elephant kicks him.” Or words to that effect.

As far as I am concerned, I do not care whether “Mr. Rogue” is stuffed, or “Madame Tiger” or "Mr. Tiger” or all of India's life is stuffed, but, I do say that there is enough of the real life of India in “Hunting Tigers in India” to make it as beloved as anything I have een on the screen. In all of my days, telling you about elephants. Ringling’s circus and all the other things about entertainment, never in my life have I ever seen an elephant hurt. That happens in this movie of Dyott. The blood comes out of this silent beast with the trunk. Just a flash. But you know and I know that he has been hurt. Just a flash in India and you see them doctoring not the “trunk,” but the "tail.” They have taken a very natural and a very honest trip into India. Have given you certain rulers, certain representatives of the crown—they have given you royalty—native and English. And the director or somebody whom I do not know, takes the man who talks—he with gun or the camera, into the wilds. The eyes and the “shots” are the same. The result is that the modern touch has been added to this wild trip to India. A man talks. Then action. Then the street scenes of India, then the strange and weird procession of men and women with pins, nails, hooks and the like in their bodies going to a religious ceremony. All as in life. India is strong for ceremonies. Then the fight for the tigers. The man who speaks, is a lecturer. It took for this killing of three tigers, a hundred elephants, over 500 men. What a kitchen to carry for men and what a delivery for elephant food that was necessary. Gosh, it takes a lot to kill three tigers in the wilds. And this movie,

"Hunting Tigers in India.” no actual sound of India, but musical background and the good intelligent voice of the speaker who gives you this experience. “Hunting Tigers in India” gives one at times the actual closeup of wild life and wild animals with the modern idea of the theater back of the presentation. There is some lost time in the actual battles of the wild, but the entire thing is done with that necessary touch of what we demand in the theater. “Hunting Tigers in India” brought me nearer to the wild claw, the bleeding trunk of an elephant; the jump of the tiger; the running disgust of the rogue elephant and the wild show-off of the natives on parade of “faith.” “Hunting Tigers in India” is not a school room lecture, although it starts that way. It becomes the theater of wild life. Marvelously recorded in film and explained by a lecturer with voice recorded. “Hunting Tigers in India” goes way beyond what I expected in the modern theater with a box office. It is as intelligent entertainment that the screen affords in this modern day. This picture needs no recommendation. It is even beyond that. I saw “Hunting Tigers in India” yesterday at a private showing at The Uptown prior to its release in this city. # # Indianapolis theaters today offer: "Vanities” with W. C. Fields at English's, “Happy Days” at the Apollo, “The Vagabond Lover” at the Palace, Anniversary at the Indiana, “Seven Days Leave” at the Circle, ‘The Aviator” at the Lyric, movies at the Colonial, “Kibitzer” at the Ohio, burlesque at the Mutual and movies at the Granada.
