They argued that customs officers fcave a right to stop and search automobiles and use whatever force necessary. Judge William Cant denied the motion. ■ Mrs. Virkkula testified she thought her husband was trying to atop his car when one of the shotgun slugs, which riddled the machine, struck him in the head. The defense objected and the testimony was stricken out. PAY TRIBUTE TO EDITOR Death of Blast Victim Takes J;; Character of Martyrdom. Bv United Preee ■; TRIESTE, Feb. 14.—The death of Guido Neri, one of the editors of the Popolo, whose legs were blown off in the explosion of an artillery shell, presumably planted in the newspaper offices by terrorists, has taken on the character of a martydom. Premier Benito Mussolini observed Neri's death by offering a reward of 100,000 lire for discovery of the terrorists, and ordering the “c mrade’s” bier covered with flowers. lkpe Pius blessed Neri during his dying hours.
