WINTER SPORTS IN CANADA CALL 11. SJISITORS Highways Are Kept Free of Snow for American Auto Traffic. By .V P.A fter<ir,e TORONTO, Jan. 7.—Canada’s visitation of American motorists is to be Increased considerably this winter by a sport loving American crowd who will journey into the north to enjoy winter sports in Canadian resorts. Realizing this source of revenue, Canada has made extensive provisions to keep its chief highways free of snow, particularly those leading from the border to the winter resorts. Many Sports Canada presents a list of winter sports that is rivaled in few oilier countries. Skating, skiing, coasting, snow-shoeing. mountain climbing— Canada has the mall, and all open roads lead to one or several of these sports in such famed spots as the Laurentian mountains, north of Montreal, the famous Gatineau hills near Ottawa and High and Riverdale parks in this city. The Windsor-Montreal highway will be the main road to be kept free of snow with rotary plows. From this main traffic artery, branch highways to the sport centers will be cleared. Roads Cleared All entrances into Canada at Buffalo, Detroit, Ogdensburg, N. Y., and Rouses Point, will be kept clear by plows and crews situated at fiftymile intervals along the entire De-troit-Montreal route of nearly 6,000 miles. In all, Ontario will use six plows and trucks, sixteen tractors, two rotary plows, ten nose plows and a number of blade plows to keep her southern roads open. Quebec will use three rotary plows and a half dozen nose and blade plows. Many Visitors For some years, both Montreal and Quebec have had organized programs of winter sports, extending through January and February, attracting a large number of American visitors. In the Laurentian mountains a number of hotels remain open throughout the winter and offer excellent accommodation as well as jvery facility for winter sports. HEART VICTIM IN CAR Condition of Deputy Sheriff Is Serious; Collapses at Wheel. Stricken with heart disease, while on duty today, Frank Brosius, deputy sheriff, living at the Puritan hotel, was taken to city hospital in a serious condition. Brosius, driving an automobile while serving subpenas, managed to drive the car to a curb at Thirtieth and MacPherson streets before he collapsed. A pedestrian notified the sheriff's office.

CITY FINANCIERS IN COURT FIGHT OVERJOMPANY Jordan Seeks Accounting in Litigation on Lock Firm’s Assets. Shit between Arthur R. Baxter and Arthur Jordan, Indianapolis financiers, involving a question of the majority ownership of the Keyless Lock Company, 1400 North Newman street, was being tried today by Circuit Judge Harry O. Chamberlin. Jordan, as original plaintiff, with Baxter as intervener, seeks by the litigation to have an accounting made of the firm’s assets, and demands he be awarded $1,130,431, as his share of the company, plus Interest extending over a five-year period. The suit seeks to test a contract between the co-owners in December, 1921, when Baxter held 35 percent
