NO MONEY FOR 25 MORE COPS. SAYS SULLIVAN Mayor Recognizes Need, but Cites Lack of Funds in City's Coffers. Though admitting nerd for twen-ty-five more policemen in Indianapolis, Mayor Reginald H. Sullivan today declared no funds are available to pay the additional salaries. The board of public safety meeting Tuesday declared twenty-five additional men needed. Many on Clerk a 1 Duty “A large number of officers are aMigned to clerical and other duties, robbing the chief of sufficient personnel for regular police work.” Mayor Sullivan said today. ' The board must work out the situation some way.” The board of safety held a closeddoor conference Tuesday to discuss rumors that certain applicants were "paying their way.” to get on the police force.
