AIRPORT STUDY TRIP ARRANGED BY COUNOILMEN •City Officials to Follow Mayor’s Example in Port Inspection. An early airport inspection trip to Dayton. 0., in contemplated by city council, to obtain information on the municipal flying fields. The council is anxious to become familiar with other airports, to aid In solving problems in connection wtih the development of the Indianapolis field. Flics to Dayton Mayor Reginald H. Sullivan, Boyd Gurley, editor of The Times, Bon O. Aspy and Robert Denham, student pilots, inspected Dayton and Columbus, 0., airports Monday in a Curtiss-Wright Flying Service of Indiana, Inc., cabin plane, piloted by Walker W. Winslow, sales director. Sullivan’s party was met by a Columbus Chamber of Commerce delegation and city officials. Colonel John Duffey, service director, explained the development of the Columbus field. Suggests Committee Mayor Sullivan is sold on air travel after his first flight in a cabin plane. He recently took his first hop in an Indiana national guard ship to inspect flooded White river. The Solo Club of Indianapolis today wrote Sulivan urging a portion of the municipal airport be reserved for factory rites and that no further expenditures be made until a "comprehensive plan" has been worked out for flying and manufacturing lines. The club suggested that Sullivan name a nonpartisan committee to act as an advisory board to the city.

HELD ON DRY CHARGE Taxi Driver Furnished Patrons With Brew, Police Assert. Blind tiger charges against Wilbur McClure of 303 Lansing street, taxi driver, were continued in municipal court Monday afternoon until Thursday afternoon. McClure, police charge, took taxi patrons to his home, where police say a large quantity of home brew was found. McClure Sunday night resisted two Negroes who attempted to hold him up, biting the finger of one and grabbing a gas pipe from the second. Fails Into Manhole Slipping through a broken manhole cover at 3601 Boulevard place Monday night, Thomas W. Cleveland, apartment 2, at 134 West Twenty-first street, suffered an injured ankle and was drenched to the waist by water in the manhole.

SUPREME JUDGE RULES ALCOHOL IS INTOXICATING Jurist, Once Charged 'Wet/ Gives ‘Dry’ Opinion in Booze Case. Judge Benjamin M. Willoughby of the Indiana supreme court has come to the viewpoint that alcohol Is an intoxicating beverage. He takes this stand In no uncertain terms in an opinion upholding the conviction of Lee Barker, sentenced for transporting alcohol in Marion county, April 30, 1926. Willoughby cites the case of Douglas Hall against the state, decided June 19, 1928. In that case Judge Clarence R. Martin wrote the opinion alcohol is intoxicating liquor within tire meaning of the state and federal prohibition laws. But, at that time, Willoughby and Judge David A. Myers refused to join in this conclusion. They agreed in affirming Hall’s conviction, but not in the alcoholic decision. But, in holding that Barker must pay SIOO fine and serve from one to two years at the Indiana state prison, Willoughby sets out that “alcohol Is Intoxicating liquor and may be diluted easily so as to be capable of being used freely as a beverage.” In another portion of the opinion
