“nnKL ROOM WITH IRON A SHUTTERS." by Anthony Wynne, is that rarity among mystery stories —a book with an entirely new twist to its plot. Wynne has fo:nd a brand new method of commuting murder; a method so ingenious and baffling tha* the reader will take it to heart at once —provided, of course, that he is one of those queer people who er.joy murder mysteries. When half way through with this book one might fear the worst. The plot reaches a situation where the only possible solution seemed some utterly banal and unjustified bit of trickery. And then, it is found that Wynne has something up his sleeve. The last few chapters, which show just how a man who was seated alone in a locked room, with doors and windows securely fastened, was done to his death, have a kick that almost knocks the reader out of his chair. Hop on to this one, you mysterylovers. It's a lulu. The book is published by the J. B. Lippincott Company. 45,000 VOTE ON STRIKE New York Garment Workers Seek Sweatshop Elimination. Hu l vit- ■/ Pri ka NEW YORK. Jan. 29.—Thousands of dressmakers in the metropolitan irea today went through the formality of balloting on a general strike of which they are overwhelmingly in favor. The strike probably will begin Monday or Tuesday and 45,000 garment workers are expected to walk out. Besides elimination of sweatshop conditions, the dressmakers demand a $5 wage increase for workers paid by the week, a 10 per cent increase for piece workers and confinement of production to union shops.
