ROYAL TRIBUTE : PAID TO NEW AUTOMODELS National Motor Show Puts i 930 Creations Before Driving Public. Bn Tnited f‘rc** NEW YORK. Jan. 6.—The many new features shown in the exposition of motor cars and accessories in the thirtieth anniversary national automobile show, now open here, are attracting one of the most enthusiastic throngs that has attended the annual exhibit. The show opened Saturday in Grand Central palace. The manufacturers have concentrated on luxurious accessories and refinement of body design in their 1930 mode Ls. There is more that is truly new to be seen this season than at any show in the past. While improvements in mechanical fundamentals are many, the addition of such features as radio, in the more expensive automobiles, more roomy and attractive bodies in all makes are stressed. The exposition has filled the four floors available to capacity and larger crowds are anticipated than at any previous show. A spirit of optimism among the manufacturers prevails despite rumors during the autumn that the industry might be affected by the stock market crash. An elaborate program of meetings, luncheons and dinners was held today, International day on the schedule. The reception to foreign visitors took place this morning, to be followed by the international luncheon and international trade conference this afternoon. The show’ has attracted wide attention abroad. Baron J. De Kahma-Kauffman cabled from Faria congratulations to Manager S. A. Miles and the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce upon the auspicious opening. The baron is president of the International Exposition of American Import Trade, to be held in New York next August. He predicted that European accessories will be marketed in greater numbers in the United States during 1930. The number of out-of-town visitors attending the show. Including dealers.
