PRINCE WASN'T SEASICK; JUST TOOK A 'SHOT' Wales’ Inoculated Against Disease; Vessel Hits Bad Weather. BY ROBERT C. DOWSON United I’rtss Staff Correspondent ON BOARD S. S. KENILWORTH CASTLE, AT SEA, Jan. 6.—Seasickness —excusable in view cJ the j heavy weather encountered by this ship-may have accounted for the disappearance of the bulk of the Kenilworth Castle's passengers, but the prince of Wales’ nonappearance at meals w'as even more legitimate. The prince, soon to enter the tropics, and, like all travelers, apt to run into paratyphiod, was inoculated against the disease, and as a result was forced to keep to his stateroom for at least forty-eight hours. Ten days from now he will receive another “shot” of serum, and thereafter will be immune. The j serum was administered by the I ship’s doctor, J. C. Franklin. Asa result of the treatment, the , prince has a sore left arm. Other members of his party will be inoc- , ulated within the next few days. When the prince failed to appear on deck Sunday, it immediately was reported that his democracy had once more been demonstrated—that he had succumbed to the pounding and railing like any ordinary being. An official statement telling of the inoculation gave his fellow-passengers the real truth. There would have been ample reason for his royal highness remaining below decks. However, 600 miles out of Southampton, the gale had reached sixty miles an hour, and a heavy hailstorm had added to the discomforts. So distressing were weather condi-t-'.ns, in fact, that the customary religious services were abandoned. Flies Plane to Africa Bv l iiitnl I’rruK PARIS. Jan. 6.—The airplane, which will be at the disposal of the prince of Wales in Africa, if he j cares to use it to reach the heart of the hunting district, is on its ! way to Lake Victoria. Captain Haines, piloting the plane, j left Paris Sunday for North Africa. !
