Girl Scout News
Two-day outing at Camp Dellwood has been postponed due to the inci’ease of the epidemic of spinalmeningitis. All troop meetings will not be held this next week. Watch the papers for further announcement of meetings. New candidates reported during the past week are: Troop 39, Irma Williams; Troop 28, Julia Betty Beasely. Court of awards will be held Friday, Jan. 31, at the Broadway Methodist Episcopal church at 7:30 p. m. All blue cards must be turned in by Jan. 4. A hundred and fifteen girls were present at the party for Troops 8, 20 and 23. The entertainment consisted of specialty dances, readings, songs and novelties. The awards for cookie orders were given to the patrols that sold the most cookies. For the girls that sold over a hundred dozen cookies, a midget pin was given to them. Frozen suckers, popcorn balls and Girl Scout cookies were served as refreshments. Lugar entertained with a tea from 3 to 6 this afternoon at her home, 4806 East Washington street, in honor of Miss Orpha Ewing, Evanston, 111., secretary to the National Delta Delta Delta sorority. Miss Ewing is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ewing in Indianapolis. Mrs. Lugar was assisted by her mother, Mrs. Thomas L. Green, Mrs. J. Harry Green, Mrs. G. Schuyler Blue, Mrs. Harold Magee and Mrs. Paul Morton. The reception room was decorated with a lighted Christmas tree, vase* of red roses and poinsettias.
