Conference of civic, public and business officials to work out plans %o relieve “unemployment above normal’’ in Indianapolis will be arranged by a Chamber of Commerce committee to be named within a few days by President Paul Q. Richey. The conference, in line with the program of President Hoover, was authorized by chamber directors Thursday after hearing a report compiled by William H. Book, civic affairs director, showing decline in certain lines of business, and heavy increase in demand for assistance reported by various relief agencies. Directors also adopted a resolution that the chamber Join the American Legion and other organizations in urging county commissioners to take immediate action toward removing churches from the World War Memorial plaza. Chamber officers were re-elected for the ensuing year. They are Richey, president; Frank E. Gates, vice-president, and George S. Olive, treasurer.
