ONE DEATH IS ADDED TO CITY TRAFFIC TOLL Lawrpnce Man Is Injured Fatally When Hit by Truck. With the death Thursday afternoon of Ernest Vletmeier, 68, of Laurence, who was struck at Noble and Market streets by a coal truck, city and police officials renewed pleas for careful driving and caui t ion on the part of pedestrians during the rainy, smoggy weather. A number of minor accidents were reported Thursday afternoon and night and early today. Marshall Hogue, 21, of 1422 Churchman avenue, driver of the truck which struck and fatally injured Vietmeer, injuring Levi A. Gibson. 60, also of Lawrence, at the same time, Is held on charges of manslaughter in the case. Hibson suffered severe cuts and bruises. Louis Ramsey, 32, of 8 West Morris street, was cut on his face and hands when his truck ran over an embankment and struck the White rive bridge at Emrichsville. He was taken to city hospital. William Glover, 58, of 1206 East Georgia street, suffered a broken leg when struck by an automobile driven by Leo J. Hoffman of 4325 Park avenue, at East and Washington streets Thursday night. Glover is said to have stepped in front of the car. Oliver Turner, 32, of 214 Emerson avenue, was arrested on charges of assault and battery and reckless driving after his car struck Traffic Policeman Mosbey at Senate avenue and New York street. Mosbey suffered cuts and bruises. Byron Todd Jr., 20. of 1702 North Rural street, was pinned under his automobile when it overturned m collision with a car driven by Dr. E. A. Alkman of 433 West, Fortyfourth street at Forty-fourth street and Boulevard place Thursday night, but was not injured seriously. He was taken to Methodist hospital. Jewell Jordan. Negro. 28, 927 Rhodes street, was cut on the head when his car struck a curb at Senate avenue and Pratt street, breaking off a wheel, and then plowed ahead 100 feet to strike a pole. Pair Indicted

Daniel R. Crissinger, above, of Marion, 0., United States controller of the currency during the Harding administration, and Congressman Frederick N. Zihlman of Maryland, below, have been indicted by a District, of Columbia grand jury on charges of using the mails to defraud. Both were directors of the F. H. Smith Company, a Washington investment house, now being investigated. Zihlman recently resigned from the directorate.
