AGRICULTURE IS SEEN ENTERING UPON NEW ERA Ignore State Boundaries in Handling Problems, Thompson Plea. Pv Pflltn l Prrst CHICAGO. Dec. 9.—Sara H. Thompson, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, today called for a strengthening of the credit situation for the fanners, and said that agriculture was on the threshold of anew era. He was addressing the elevent annual convention of the federation at the Hotel Sherman with 5,000 delegates in attendance. Farm problems must be handled from a national viewpoint, Thompson said, declaring that state boundaries must be ignored in considering the problem. “We no longer can think in terms of the states,” he said, “since communication and transportation have knit every section of the country together so closely. “Thimrs are being done which will soon place agriculture on an equality economically with other Industries, but the credit situation is unsatisfactory,” he said. “It must be strengthened so that it can meet the requirements more nearly. The farm bureau has prepared amendments to the rural credit art. passage of which by congress would provide a way for a more adequate system of agricultural finance. Now that the United States had declared a policy for agriculture, it is doubly necessary to obtain a financial program adequate to meet the expanded program for this industry. The agriculture that we now build must be one of permanence.” Thompson said any reduction in farm taxes must be sought through readjustment tending to spread the tax burden equally over all clases, rather than through reduction in public expenditures.” He expressed a belief that the agricultural marketing act—“this elevation of agricultural rates” will have an immediate effect on agricultural prosperity. Stubborn Coughs Ended by Recipe, Mixed at Home
Here id the famous old recipe which millions of housewives have found to be the most dependable means of breaking up a stubborn, lingering cough. It takes but a moment to prepare and costs little, but it gives real relief even for those dreaded coughs that follow severe cold epidemics. From any druggist, get 2% ounces of Fiuex, pour it into a pint bottle and fill the bottle with plain granulated Fugar syrup or strained honey. Thus you make a full pint of better remedy than you could buy ready-made for three times the cost. It never spoils and tastes so good that even children like it. Not only does this simple mixture soothe and heal the inflamed throat membranes with surprising ease, but also it is absorbed into the blood, and acts directly upon the bronchial tubes, thus aiding the whole system in throwing off the cough.
