\ FIERCE STORMS TAKE LIVES OF 23 IN BRITAIN Coast Swept by Gales; Many Injured: Property Damage Is Heavy. Hus nitrd Prrtn LONDON. Dec. 6. —Storms of hurricane Intensity, which swept the British Isles, the English channel and sections of the Atlantic ocean for nearly twenty-four hours, abated somewhat today after taking a toll of twenty-three lives, many injured and heavy property damage The dead included sixteen of the crew of the British steamship Frances Duncan, 2.384 tons, which foundered off the Irish coast near Waterford. Three fishermen were drowned when their fishing boat was smashed to bits on the coast near Skerries, Ireland. Four other victims w’ere claimed by the storms on land. The herringboat Trypsena was disabled by the storm off Yarmouth and was being towed to port when it broke away and was WTecked near North Sands. The crew' of ten was rescued by rocket apparatus. The drifter Reward was stranded at Corton sand, was' abandoned by its crew' and later blowm to sea and .sank. Six other steamships reported themselves in difficulty while trawlers and small fishing boats sought safety in port, after bring battered bv Ihe storm.

Bv United Press PARIS, Dec. 6.—The chamber of deputies voted confidence in Premier Andre Tardieu's government Thursday night, even though the members had to pledge themselves to work overtime to do it. Tardieu, mounting the tribune during the afternoon, accused left groups in parliament of using obstructionists tactics and proposed that the chamber meet every morning, afternoon and night, including Sundays, until the agricultural budget w r as passed. Edouard Daladier, president of the radical Socialists, resented the declaration, fought his way to the platform and pleaded for the left groups to refuse confidence in the government.
