WYOMING’S NEW SENATOR IS NOT SHIRKING FIGHT He’s Irish and Willing to Scrap for Appointment, Says Sullivan. Bv finite 4 Perm CHEYENNE, Wyo., Dec. 6. Patrick J. Sullivan, newly appointed senator from Wyoming, is not concerned over the fight said to be planned In Washington against his appointment. “All me life I’ve been in fights,” he said in characteristic Irish brogue. “I love a good hard fight. It'B the Irish of me, I suppose.” Sullivan, who made a fortune in sheep and oil in Wyoming after coming to this country from Ireland when he was 24, was appointed by Governor Frank C. Emerson to succeed the late Senator Francis E. Warren. The legality of the appointment has been questioned by some senators because the state law authorizes a senate vacancy to be filled by special election. The law was held ambiguous. Lanky, quiet spoken and with a keen Irish wit, Sullivan is known for his ability at repartee. Speaking before a strange audience during a political campaign, he said: “You

SCOUT JUDD DIES Paralyzed in Boyhood, Youth Earned Honors. Harold Judd, 23, who became a Boy Scout despite an affliction at the age of 12 that paralyzed his arms and legs, will be buried by his friends' and scout buddies after funeral services in the Emerson Avenue Baptist church at 2 p. m. today. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. He died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Judd, 767 North DeQuincy street, Tuesday night. The youth won a special achievement badge from the Boy Scout order, and was a member of the examining board, directing tests that he knew, but could not perform.

HONOR CITY CHURCH Irvington Presbyterian Is Given Mention in Contest. Bv United Press JRBI ST. LOUIS, Dec. 6.—The First Presbyterian church of New Rochelle, N. Y., has been awarded the SI,OOO first prize for excellence of architecture and completeness of plan in the 1929 nation-wide church building competition conducted by the Christian Herald. The SI,OOO prize is divided equally between the church and its architect, the office of John Russell Pope, New York. Announcement of this reward and others in the competition was made today at the annual convention of the Associated Denominational Bureaus of Church Architects at Hotel Statler, here. Among those given honorable mention was the Irvington Presbyterian church, Indianapolis, Harrison & Tumock, Indianapolis, architects. STORM HITS MADRID Twelve Injured, Buildings and Vessels Are Demolished. Bv United Press MADRID, Dec. 6. A violent storm demolished several buildings, damaged small vessels and injured a dozen persons near Madrid and other sections last night. Eight persons were injured seriously in the vicinity of Madrid. Damages were estimated at several hundred thousand dollars.
