Nobody had the courage to say that was not so except Hoover.” The liberal leader cited the increasing armaments since 1914 and referred to the eloquent speeches at Geneva favoring peace, disarmament and arbitration. “The League of Nations is in danger of failure by being run by fiapdoodlers,” he added. “You are not going to get peace with 30,000.000 armed men and gigantic armaments.
