FANCY LIQUOR STOCK SEIZED BY DRY SQUAD William Jones Is Held to U. S. Grand Jury Under Bond of $2,500. A liquor stock de luxe was seized Monday, federal agents report, when William (Billie) Jones, 5502 Winthrop avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of liquor in a raid by police. Jones was held to federal grand jury under $2,500 bond after hearing before United States Commissioner Charles W. Kern. Josf.ph W. Stephens, 5510 Winthrop avenue, in whose home the expensive liquor was found, was released when it was testified the liquor was owned by Jones. Jones and his wife were acquitted in federal court in 1928 in connection with purchase of a stolen automobile. The federal agents said the confiscated liquor included fourteen pints of Bourbon .eleven quarts of Welsh Imperial liquor, eight quarts of Teacher’s Highland Cream, one quart, of Mumm’s Extra Dry champagne and seven one-gallon tins of grain alcohol. William C. Witten, 40, of Law rrence, and Charles R. Harris, 26, of the service company, Eleventh infantry, at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, were arrested on blind tiger charges Monday night by deputy sheriffs and will face federal charges. The two are alleged to have sold liquor to soldiers at Ft. Harrison. The raid followed a fight In Witten’s chicken house Monday afternoon in which it is charged Sergeant Albert Wells of Ft. Harrison •was beaten on the head with a hammer. Sergeant Wells filed charges of assault and battery with intent to kill against Witten. LEGIONNAIRES BOOSTED Post Resolves to Back Members for County Commission. A resolution advocating that legion members be nominated for county commissioners on both tickets in the primaries next May, was adopted by the McllvaineKothe post of the American Legion Monday night, so churches on the World war memorial plaza site may be acquired by the county and razed. The First Baptist church and the Second Presbyterian church are valued at more than $1,000,000. Officials and members of the churches have expressed willingness to negotiate sale of the buildings so the Plaza plan may be realized.

MISSION DEDICATED ‘Convert’s Night’ Feature at Wheeler Rescue. "Converts’ night” will celebrate tonight’s dedicatory exercises at the new r Wheeler Rescue Mission, 245 North Delaware street.
