DRIP-OUTER INVALUABLE IN COFFEE MAKING Hoosier Firm’s Device is Similar to System Used by French. Making coffee in France has been and probably always will be by the drip and filtration methods, Everett Irish, president of the Hoosier Coffee Company, 1417-21 Southeastern avenue, said today s This method is followed both by the large hotels and cases and by the housewives. When an unusually good cup of coffee is to be served, the cook drips the coffee, using a spoonful of hot water at a time, pouring it over tightly packed, finely ground coffee, allowing the water to percolate through to extract every particle of oil. More ground coffee in the bulk is used than there is liquid in the cup, and sometimes an hour is spent in producing four or five demi-tasses. The French drip method of making coffee is recognized as the only method that actually extracts the maximum quantities of the delicious aromatic oils and other contents. Boiling of ground coffee with water results in loss of true flavors by steam distillation. The Hoosier Coffee Company has made it possible for thousands of families in Central Indiana to obtain the latest innovation in coffee making, the Drip-O-Later. Hoosier Club coffee, blended and roasted fresh daily In Indianapolis, brewed by the Drip-O-Later method, quickly produces a truly delicious cup of drip coffee as Americans prefer this beverage. Independent grocers handle Hoosier Club coffee and gladly will provide information on how the Drip-O-Later may be obtained easily and at little cost.
COLD, HOLIDAY HURT WEEK’S CONSTRUCTION Permits Issued for New Building Total Only 880,400. Sudden cold weather and interruption of the Thanksgiving holiday contributed to a drop in new construction this week, according to a compilation by the Indianapolis Real Estate Board of permits issued by the city building commissioner. Only ten residential projects were started during the week. They totaled $39,400. The total of new construction was brought to $80,400 by three other jobs, a $30,000 building under construction by the Service Corporation, at Rural and Newton streets, a Standard Oil Company filling station, at Washington street and Audubon road, and a warehouse for the Indiana Naval Stores, at 403 West Seventeenth street.
PLATING PLANT IS BUSY -S’ The Adams Plating company, 138 West Tenth street, is working at top speed in handling the demand for chromium-plated automobile, stove and other metal parts. With arrival of the cold months of winter, a large number of motorists are taking nickled automobile parts to the Adams company plant to have them chrome-plated because of the weather-resisting qualities of this form of plating. HUGE MILEAGE TOTAL Trucks of the Central Transfer and Storage Company, 118 South Alabama street, travel more than 100,000 miles a month, according to a recent estimate made by Elmer W. Roesner, manager. The firm specializes in local and inter-city commercial hauling.

HEATER SALES GAIN Francisco Makes Driving in Winter Comfortable. The last few weeks of winter weather have resulted in an unprecedented demand for installation of Francisco automobile heaters, according to officials of the Perfection Windshield Company, 25 West Pratt street, city distributors. The Francisco, with models designed separately for each car. is guaranteed to deliver more heat than any other heater, regardless of price. It covers both the intake and exhaust manifold, serving as a hotspot causing complete vaporization of gasoline. A deflector elbow permits the warm air stream being delivered in any direction in the car. Motor fumes can not reach the interior of the car as the exhaust pipes merely are jacketed, not tapped. The Francisco produces heat instantly. Warm air is taken just back of the motor fan, forced through the manifold covering into the car. Thus, air in the car is changed every few minutes, avoiding headaches and car sickness. PROGRESS IS REPORTED Big Four Building May be Ready For Occupancy by Spring. Work on the new Big Four building, Meridian and Maryland streets, is progressing rapidly and should be completed by next spring, according to Leslie Colvin, building contractor. The building is to be nine stories high, with basement, and will cost $900,000. Seven floors have been leased by the Big Four Railroad Company. The first floor will be occupied by a Walgreen drug store and a Western Union sub-station.

CARE OF AUTO SAVES DRIVERS MANYJOLLARS Trade-in Value Should Be Considered, Declares S. & S. Official. Thinking ahead saves motorists many future dollars, according to Gus Showalter, manager of the S. & S. Fender & Body repair. The new car of today will be the second-hand car tomorrow, Showalter said, and its value to trade in or sell outright, depends on the care given it today. If the fenders should be bumped or the body dented, rust will follow, unless repairs are made at once. All these things are considered by the used car dealer in making a trade in appraisal. Asa car begins to look shabby from neglect, the average motorist likely will give it less and less care. Now is an excellent time to start giving those damaged fenders the needed repairs. The S. & S. company specializes in repairing and rebuilding of all kinds of automobile wreckss, large or small, providing two-in service available anywhere in Indiana or adjoining states. The firm’s workmen are not the "Jack-of-all-trades” type, but are experienced in this one part of the motor industry, and produce highly satisfactory results. The company has an excellent location, 330 Pierson avenue, between Meridian and Illinois streets, opposite the rear of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce building.
