Two hundred twenty-five men have been employed on this job and on the one-half mile of double track on Shelby street and the laying of 400 feet of new track between Washington and Maryland s reet on Illinois street. This, together with the English avenue replacement and extension, \ ill total four miles of single track t ;ls year. Several new methods in track c instruction have been introduced t iis season by the street car comy my. including the thermit welding i pe of rail and steel tie place l stenlng. Through use of thermit welding, t ie protruding rail joint has been ruminated. A step] alloy which binds the two ends of the rail is used, making for smooth stretches cf rail. The steel tie plate will help to lessen the wear and so provide for level track instead of a series of hills and valleys. A heavier rail also is being used in the 1929 construction and reacement program. degree murder charge, but ineligibility of one juror caused the presentment to be quashed. The present jury refused to return an indictment on evidence presented. Mrs. McPhrson, a nurse, was found strangled to death, a pajama cord tied about her neck. Police, supported by a coroner’s jury, declared the death a suicide. The grand jury investigation followed demands by Senator Lee S. Overman of North Carolina. Corn and Potatoes Displayed ANDERSON. Ind.. Nov. 22.
