HOOVER TO AID IN REBUKE FOR SENATORMOSES President Does Not Oppose Plan of Committee to Resign. BY PAUL R. MAI.LON T’nltcd Prc* Stiff Correspondent WASHINGTON, Nov. 12.—President Hoover Vice-President Curtis *nd their close Republican associates are exerting considerable influence toward healing of the party wounds inflicted in unprecedentedly bitter tariff contest between eastern and western Republican senators. While not talcing sides with either of the warring factions, the chief executive and the presiding officer of the senate have been able to prevent several threatened occurences, which would have widened the breach. As the latest step to appease the aroused westerners, Mr. Hoover has sanctioned a plan to administer a mild chastisement of Senator George H. Moses, of New Hampshire. chairman of the Republican senatorial campaign committee, who has called the ■westerners “sons of wild jackasses.” All Plan to Resign Members of Mosses’ committee, none of whom is connected with the western group, have decided that, Inasmuch as there is no other way to stop Moses’ tactics, which they believe will bring harm to the party, they will register their protest by resigning from the committee en masse, Mr. Hoover is known to have been advised of the plan and offered no objections. What Moses will do when, and if, he finds his committee retired, and he alone remaining, is the pending topic of speculation. Moses never has been known to retire voluntarily from any i ffice. Those on T loses’ committee, most of whom hi: e participated in the developments related include: Vanderberg (Mich.), Hatfield (W. Va.), Townsend (Del.), Thomas (Idaho), Patterson (Mo.), and Hobert (R. I.). They, as well as the neutral leaders frankly are worried about the possibilities in the situation. Fear Further Action The anti-Moses group is aware there is talk of carrying the coalition forward, promoting Senator Borah of Idaho as the leader of the farm schism. There are ten Republican senators up for re-election next year, at least seven of whom are in danger of losing their seats, according to Moses. If the eastern leaders are permitted to add fuel to the already visible flames, the neutral leaders fear they will face a repetition of the party break of 1912.

GYRO CLUB TO ELECT FROM RIVAL TICKETS Annual Meeting Will Be Occasion for Balloting by Members. Officers of the Gyro Club will be chosen at its annual meeting in the Spink-Arms tonight. Two tickets in the field, one named by a nomination committee, appointed by the retiring president, and another selected by the finance committee, are: President's committee ticket: For president, Ken M. Mosiman; vicepresident, Jack E. Fehsenfeld; secretary, James J. Bright; treasurer, Ralph Ittenbach; sergeant-at-arms, Hermann H. Rinne; for directors. Dr. Fisk. Walter Montgomery and Jesse Dunwoody. Finance committee ticket: For president, Lawrence Hartman; vicepresident. Ted Corbin: secretary, C. Martin Aldred: treasurer, Frank Billiter; sergeant-at-arms. Arch Gerrard: directors. Dr. Fish, Watson Brigham and Lynn Logsdon.
