LEGION LEADER . STIRS MEMORY OF VETERANS Armistice Celebration Is Cited as Renewal of Allegiance Vows. O, L. BODENHAMER National Commander, The* American Leffion. -Memories of the gallant service performed by the men of America on the battlefields of France, come flooding back today with an everincreasing vividness," said O. L. Bodenhamer, national commander of the American Legion, in an Armistice day message today. "We turn back the pages of the past and live again those neve-to-be-forgotten moments of victory which brought unrestrained joy and gladness to the world. “The American Legion, composed of the men who helped make possible that great aohievent of eleven years ago, today is engaged in the task of preserving and perpetuating in peace those same high ideals of service which inspired our men in 1917 and 1918 to stake their lives for their country. “Armistice day has a peculiar significance to the men or the legion because it not only revives cherished memories, but it serves to impress upon all veterans their i duty of continued service to the nation. A day of joy though this may be, ctiil It strikes hard the note of loyalty which characterized the service of our men in timr of war and which should characterize their j service in time of peace. “Conceived out of the common interests of those who served, the spirit of the American Legion today is the spirit which spurred our men to noble deeds on the field of battle. The legion is justifying its existence with a program of good citizenship, with untiring devotion to the care of our disabled comrades and dependent children of veterans, advancing the principles of Americanism, and giving unselfish service towards the betterment of our city,; state and nation. “Our celebration of this Armistice day, however, would be to no avail if we do not take advantage of the splendid opportunity it affords, to pledge anew' our allegiance to flag and country, and to reflect upon the duties and obligations which we, as citizens, owe to the nation. The lives which were snuffed out in the blaze of the World war, will not have been sacrificed in vain if we dedicate our best efforts to the uplift of the nation and to the preservation of those glorious principles of freedom and democracy for which our comrades died."

,* Radio TIMES TO GIVE RADIO OWNERS ANOTHERTREAT Midnight Program to Be Presented Over WFBM on Wednedays. , A program for the “stay awakes" who consider midnight the ideal time for a radio program, and for those impromptu parties that Just happen without any premeditation, is the latest contribution of The Indianapolis Times Radio Department, for the benefit of its readers and the Indianapolis radiooublic. Starting at 11:45 on Wednesday night, the first hour of the winter series sponsored by The Indianapolis Times, will be broadcast over WFBM. Dance melodies and foot-stirring, jazzy tunes will be the order of the night. Hunter's Rhythm Kings, a dance orchestra familiar to all Indianapo* lis dance addicts, will offer the latest in syncopation and popular songs. Most listeners will recognize the announcer’s voice the minute the program starts. It is none other than Don Hastings, former Columbia system announcer and present “head man” of the “Pep Unlimited Ciub,” heard each morning over WFBM. The midnight program starts Wednesday night at 11:45, but as yet no name has been picked for the hour. The Indianapolis Times wishes to make this a listeners’ program and for that reason is going to leave the choice of a name to Times readers and isteners. Send in your suggestion for a name to the Radio Editor, The Indianapolis Times. Remember, the program starts Wednesday night a£ 11:45 over WFBM. If you have any choice of songs, write the Radio Editor of The Times and tell him about it. AYRSHiRES SCORE HIGH Walter J. Barnett’s Cows Lead in Butterfat Production.
