CITIZENS' TICKET IS PLEDGED TO BAN_POLITICS Final Appeal for Support Made to Voters Over Air.

Final appe .1 for support of the entire Citizens’ school ticket, pledged to free the schools of politics, was made to voters today m two radio addresses over WFBM. Voters were asked to go to the polls Tuesday and vote an end to the political machine which has dominated the public school system. Support of the entire Citizens’ ticket was urged by speakers. Philip Zoercher, state tax board member, spoke over WFBM at 9 a. m., and Merle Sidener, one of the candidates, will make the last speech at 5:45 p. in. Candidates are: Sidener, Mrs. Maud Miller, Julian Wetzel, Samuel Garrison and Russell Willson. “The only issue at stake in the election Tuesday is whether selfish groups shall govern our schools or whether the parents and taxpayers of Indianapolis shall be in control,” Sidener said in a radio address Sunday. “In this election you are voting for a cause, and not for persons. That's why you should support the Citizens' ticket, which is pledged to carry out (he school commissioner's oath. These five are pledged to stand together in the effort to serve only the best interests of the schools. * Dr. Sumner A. Furniss, Negro, denounced the practice of the present school board in discriminating against Negro teachers who are natives of Indianapolis, at a rally at the Walker theater. The stock transfer, which gives Warner Brothers control of First National, cost the buyers more than $10.000.000.

FRENCH CABINET IS IN UNITY ON INTERIORPOLICYj Premier Tardieu Sure of Beating Opposition of Socialists. Bn United Press PARIS, Nov. 4.—Supported by general public approval, Andre Tardieu prepared today to present to parliament Thursday, his newly formed cabinet, confident that it will survive in face of the opposition of the radical and Radical-So-cialist groups which overthrew the government of his predecessor, Aristide Briand, on Oct. 22. Tardieu’s moderate conservative cabinet, fortified by the influence of the almost nonpartisan Briand, will confront parliament completely united in interior policies, united in the constructive ffrrdCieial policy of Raymond Poincare, and with a few exceptions agreed oh the carrying on of Briand’s popular foreign policy. The number of Republican lefts and Democratic lefts represented in the new cabinet brings it more toward a center government, although the more important portfolios, such as finance, agriculture, navy, war and foreign afiairs are in the same hands as they were in the former cabinet which was assailed bitterly by the Radicals. Despite the vote of the Radicals and the Radical-Socialists against supporting his ministry, Tardieu’s chances were 1 looked upon as favorable in view of a possible division of the Radicals. It was believed the unfavorable showing made in the attempt last week of Edouard Daladier to form a government might swing some sentiment toward Tardieu, and in that way save his cabinet from the fate which came to that of Briand’s.

CHINESE REBELS LOSING General Feng Force to Retreat as Nationalists Attack. Bit United Press SHANGHAI, Nov. 4.—Feng YuShiang, rebel leader, was forced to retreat by Nationalist attacks today, abandoning the villages of Tenfend and Heishikwan and finally taking up his position at Nanking. Arrival at the Honan front of Chiang-Kai-Shek, president of the Nationalists, was said to indicate that the government was planning a concerted attack. Today’s fighting was in the region south of Amoy. A man who weighs 200 pounds on the earth would weigh 5,400 pounds on the sun.

Richard Mewaldt, pastor of the First Moravian church of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., will open a series of evangelisoifc meetings Wednesday night at the Second Moravian Episcopal church. LARGE CLASS RECEIVES RITES First Dedication Section at Cathedral Wednesday. Scottish Rite Masons will present the twenty-fourth degree to a large class of the first dedication section at the new cathedral next Wednesday night. Harry C. Anderson, Indiana Consistory commander-in-chief, under whose auspices the degree will be conferred, has announced that thirty-third degree members will participate in principal roles of the ceremonies.
