6LOSSBRENNER ADDS PLANKS TO PLATFORM Mayoralty Aspirant Says He Will Strengthen City Boards. - A. M. Glossbrenner. Republican mayoralty nominee, added two planks to his campaign p’atform Tuesday night in addresses at 1420 North Alabama street and at the Jones taberr.acie, Blackford and West Michigan streets, with pledges to strengthen city school management and take political patronage from municipal government. He re Iterated his stand that he had not been a candidate for the mayoralty, but declared that he ~ame into the racist the solicitation of friends and associates, who oe'icved he could be of service to the city.
Promises Strong Boards "It is my firm belief.” he said, "as an instance of the freedom which is mine now and which shall be mine when I enter office, that no man ever stood in a better position to make the right kind of appointments to various controlling boards of this city. "I know that no administrative chain in business or government is stronger than it s weakest lihk. Give the city a weak board and a weak administration necessarily follows. Likewise, strong boards mean a strong administration.” “No man who deliberately seeks public office for thd 1 sake of office can give good boards. Ecund by promises, commitments and by other insurmountable objects, he is sure to be a failure as an adminlstator,” Glossbrenner declared. Glossbrenner asserted he "wouldn't have the mayor's job if I,had to make pledges for it” and that “I am making no promises to anybody for it.” Gives Views on Schools On the ‘management of city Echools the candidate said: “My platform is my intention to oppose any attempt by members of my administration to control or influence members of a school board

of thirty-five years of national political warfare. Watson announced Tuesday that he will leave Thursday for a rest in Florida, upon advice of three physicians. who told him he would break down unless he quit the strenuous duties of majority leader and took a rest. Watson Is 65 years old. His health has not been good for several years, and two years ago he took extended treatment at the Mayo sanitarium in Minnesota. This did not prevent him from waging the fight of his life against the nomination of President Hoover* He later campaigned industriously for the place of majority leader, to succeed Curtis and acquired it at the session of last December.
