TEACHERS NAME EDUCATION AIMS IN RESOLUTIONS Opportunity Equalization, Study of Taxation Are Urged. Equality of educational opportunities, revision of methods for textbook adoption and a study of school taxation to increase state aid were among recommendations in resolutions adopted today by the Indiana State Teachers’ Association. The teachers turned down a recommednation that “the state board of education be authorized to ap- , point a commissioner of education ' who shall be vested with full authority to direct the educational activities of Indiana " At present the office of state superintendent of public instruction is elective. Efforts of the state department to promote a school of the air were commended. The association suggested a committee of tax and public school finaace experts be appointed to make a survey with a view of making recommendations “for equalizing more fully both the tax burden in our state and educational opportunity for all.” The recommendation was in accord with the inaugural message of ! Ralph N. Tirey, Bloomington, association president, Thursday night. ! “There are differences between urban and rural communities, in respect to teaching materials, quality of instruction buildings and equipment, length of the school term, libraries and other educational factors,” said Tirey. “There is no justification for neglecting children who live in less favored sections of the state. We have failed to realize the democratic ideal of equality of opportunity because the state as a unit has furnished too small a part of necessary funds for public education,” he continued.

Waves in Women’s Hair Denting Their Pocketbooks Says Edna Wallace Hopper

•'The average American woman could easily save $50.00 a year and more if she would only follow the example es the chic French women who wave and curl their own hair.’* Thua spoke Edna Wallace Hopper, the famous stage star who at sixty looks like sixteen, in an interview she gave in New York on her recent return from Paris. •'See that —” she pointed to a bottle of Wave and Sheen on her dressing table. *'A woman can save enough using it to keep her in shoes and silk stockings, and at the same time have hair that looks Infinitely smarter and lovelier.” Wave and Sheen is a fluid that makes the hair easy to wave, or curl, or fluff. With !t a woman can quickly duplicate any envied coiffure. It not only leaves the hair as you want it when it dries but it gives the hair n wonderful new vibrant luster that you may never have dreamed that your hair possesesd. It makes the hair soft as down, giving your coiffure the appearance of naturalness which is so desired. Any druggist will gladly supply you with this money saving beauty-aid for the hair. Tens of thousands of American women use it regularly.—Advertisement.
