Jeff Miller, New Orleans, its presidentelect. Both men told colleagues attending the annual convention of the college here that they always had been opposed to abuses of alcoholic liquors, but were convinced prohibition was wrong in principle and actually harmful in effect. Their findings received the approbation of their fellow surgeons. “Prohibition is a magnificent
effort, yet I see no evidence that it ever has been enforced, nor any probability that it ever can be enforced,” said Dr. Martin. PRINCE OF WALES BECOMES MAGICIAN Proves So Efficient King Terms Demonstration “Excellent.” LONDON, Oct. 18.—The prince of Wales has become a magician. He proved so efficient at a recent demonstration of sleight-of-hand and magical tricks at York house that a royal command was given for a performance at Buckingham palace. King George was reported to have
pronounced the prince’s demonstration “excellent” and Princess Elizabeth, the little daughter of Princess Mary, was fascinated with her uncle’s skill. Those who revealed the “command performance” at the palace reported that the prince has an amusing and rapid-fire “patter” as captivating as his conjury.
