‘lf Not So Necessary for Girls BY MARTHA LEE Sine* Elinor Glyn exploited feminine appeal in “it,” it has become a necessity for further attention from men. Os course, girls not bleised with “it” do get around, but not at the same speed as their more fortunate sisters. Ingredients of “it” include good locks, as a rule. A smartly dressed woman of average attractiveness comes under this category. They include charm, which can not be analyzed. They include pep, amiability, and lack of self-consciousness. The girls who do not possess this important attribute must be prepared to dance for their supper, as it were. They can not sit back and work that ”come-on” gag that comes naturally to the girls who men say have "it..” They have to work for their popularity. Have no Courage They take everything they get and learn to like it. They are afraid to speak their minds, and put up with whatever the “date” of the evening has to offer, so when something really nice turns up, they will be remembered as a “good sport,” and be on deck for the good time. A girl particular about the men whose favors she accepts can not hope to be popular. She will have just as good a time in her own way as the girls who must be on the “go” every minute. If she enjoys a game of cards, an evening w r ith a good book, or an evening spent at home with her family or a group of friends, she will be spending her time more profitably than the social butterfly who sacrifices her selfrespect for the sake of a full engagement calender. Dear Martha Lee—l am in the same fix as Clarence 8. I am a girl In my late twenties end crave companionship. I am considered good looking by my Irlends, I like to go out. and I like fun. Friends Are Jealous Mv friends are jealous of me. It annoys me so that I do not give them any mo'e dates. Perhaps I am old-fashioned. I feel that Clarence 3. and I have not found the right friends yet. Please advise me what the trouble Is. Is It with tiv friends or me? DAILY READER. One of the best ways to attract a man is to be ready to listen to everything he has to say, with open ears and eager eyes. There is nothing a man likes to do better than talk about himself, his opinions and his ambitions. Can you do this? If you go at it the right way, you can get almost any man you wish. Study him, try to learn his likes and dislikes, and play your hand cleverly. Don’t worry about it any longer. Pick your victim, and plan your campaign. Ten to one you’ll get your man. It may be lots of DAYS way, but it isn’t many months away and it may take you one whole one to decide what in the world to give JoJo, who has everything in the world, anyway. Now I’ve put the idea in your head, I won’t say another word about it till—tomorrow, at least. a a a GREEN for the evening is new and smart. Mamzelle writes of a dress with a tight bodice, high waist-line, long, full skirt over tightfitting knickers, which come below the knees.
