FORMER BUTLER SECRETARY IS DEAD AT HOME Barton W. Cole Had Served as City Councilman; Veteran of War. • Funeral services for Barton W. Cole, 85, former secretary of Butler university, who died Thursday, will be conducted at the home, 21 Layman avenue, at 2 p. m. Saturday, with the Rev. William A. Shullenberger, pastor of Central Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill. • Mr. Cole, who served with One Hundred First Indiana volunteers of charged in 1865 as a captain. He to 1883. He was appointed to the Shenandoah army, was a merchant in Indianapolis after he was discharged in 1865 as acaptain. He served on the city council from 1881 to 18883. He was appointed to the Butler post in 1906. He was a member of Central Christian church. Surviving him, besides the widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Esther Brown, and a sister, Mrs. U. Z.
