SCHOOL BOARD r TO LIST COST OF BUILDINGS State Tax Group Will Get Figures on Projects Up for Bonding. In compliance with a state tax board request, the school board today was to present to the state board a resolution showing estimated costs of five school projects for which bond Issues of $1,215,000 are sought. Figures in the resolution, adopted Tuesday night, were: Irvington high school $800,000; new school No. 81, 5155.415; new school No. 82, $162,249. school No.- 15, addition, $58,712, and school No. 49, addition, $38,624. The original $915,000 bond request of the school board was rejected by the tax board when bids exceeded the figure. Charge was made by the tax board that closed specifications, permitting only Shipp system D-I ventilating system, caused the increase. Terms Costs Excessive The bond issue resolution was protested Tuesday night by Charles W. Kern, president, who termed costs excessive. Teacher appointments of Superintendent Charles F. Miller approved were: Frieda Brill, Edna Hadfield , and Willie Mae Robinson, elemen- ! tary schools; Stanley Norris, part i time violin instruction; Jack Laudermilk and Harvey Bundy, student ' assistants in Washington high i school science library, and Anna Dearborn, part time vocational sewing. Dismissal Is Approved Report of H. F. Osier, assistant buildings and grounds superintendent, listing dismissal of Dallas B. Castle, shop office clerk, as for “good of the service,” was adopted over protest of Kern, who several month's ago protested Castle’s promotion. Custodian appointments in the re- j port included: PYederick Jackson, John Jackson, John Taylor, Henry Yely, Robert Harris and J. D. Bishop. ELKS’ CLUB SEASON STARTS SATURDAY First of Dance Series Scheduled With 200 Expected. Fall festivities at the Indianapolis Elks Club will open Saturday night with the first of a series of dances under direction of Courtland C. Cohee. chairman. THREE CHILDREN ARE VICTIMS OF AUTO ACCIDENTS Small Girl Is in Serious Condition After Being Hit by Truck. Seven were injured in automobile j accidents in the city Tuesday night. One, a small girl, is in a critical condition at city hospital. She is Cora Looper, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. V. Looper, 926 West Twenty-sixth street, whose skull was fractured when she was run down by a coal truck at Twenty-sixth and Rader streets. She is believed also to have suffered internal injuries. Jesse Webb, Negro, of West Pratt street, driver of the truck, was arrested on charges of assault and battery. Track Hits Child Josephine Layton, 4, of 2118 Fletcher avenue suffered a crushed arm when struck by a truck in the 700 block Keystone avenue. The truck was driven by Welden Easten, 818 East Twenty-first street. David Blalock, 32, of 1317 North West street; Russell Hudson, 24, of 211 West Twelfth street, and George Harris, 623 West Eleventh street, were cut and bruised when Blalock’s car collided with an ice truck at California and Tenth streets. Girl Is Injured Mary Herald, 8, of 321 East New York street, sustained minor injuries when struck by an auto driven by Joseph Sgro, 40, of 914 Lexington avenue, at Noble and New York streets. Burl Whitely, 2917 East Washington street, was cut on the head when his truck overturned down an embankment at Harding and Raymond streets.
