GERMAN POLICE GUARD AGAINST FASCISTRIOTING Shooting Sunday Presages Campaign Against PostWar Pacts. llv Unite* Press BERLIN, Sept. 23.—Police reinforcements were stationed at strategic points today to prevent German P'ascist elements from repeating demonstrations such as turned the streets of Cukoelln, southeast of Berlin, into scenes of shooting and rioting Sunday. The Fascists, who represent the extreme * Nationalist factions, have shown every disposition to continue agitation for a plebiscite against the Young plan and other post-war agreements, and their processions of Sunday were considered as foreshadowing a campaign that easily might lead to further violence. The Fascist encounters with the police were marked by a considerable amount of shooting, in which groups of Communists also took part. Twenty-one agitators were arrested, including Joseph Goebel, national Socialist member of the Reichstag. Goebel later was released when he proved he had not fired a gun, as was charged. BRITONS MAY ADOPT MARKET CONTROL Slate Supervision or Corporations Is Discussed in England. It V I llill 'I I’t en* LONDON, Sept. 23.—State supervision of corporations, to protect .-mall investors, was being discussed widely today as a result of the crash of the companies controlled by Clarence C. Hatry, with a loss of $40,000,000 in market value within a lew days. It was suggested that because of the great number of small investors who lost their life savings in the collapse of the so-called Hatry group of enterprises, the government might form a national investment supervising board.

Radio NEW COURSES ARE ADDED TO RADIO SCHOOL French and Hygiene Will Be Taught for Fir,st Time. New courses in French for high school students and in hygiene for pupils in the fifth and sixth grades will begin this week in the Central States School of the Air. broadcast over radio stations WFBM, at Indianapolis, WLW at Cincinnati and WEAO at Columbus, each school day from 1 p. m. until 2. The French course, alternating with chemistry, will be introduced on Tuesday, Sept. 24, as the first class of the hour. Professor Price of Ohio State university will conduct the class, which is to put particular emphasis on pronunciation. The health talk is the second period on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and on alternate weeks thereafter will be presented by Roy P. Emerson, dean of the school of medicine of Indiana university. The second school week begins today, Sept. 23, with Harrison Sayre’s talk on current events, followed by the period of nature study known as “Out at Old Aunt Mary’s.” “What we will find in Aunt Mary’s garden each week is a secret to every listener except the teacher in each room and three pupils she selects to bring in specimens of the plants we study.” B. H. Darrow, director of the School of the Air, announced. “Thus we introduce the element of surprise and the spirit of competition as to which child will be selected to know the secret.” Story plays and rhythmics, conducted by Alma: Rhumschussel, physical education director of the Dayton (O.) schools, will occupy the third period on Monday and will be designed for the first to fourth grades. On Thursday, Sept. 26, Bessie Gabbard of the Cincinnati public schools will tell two stories for the third and fourth grades: “Oh, Dear,” and “The Discontented Pig.” Dr. W. R. OHIO VETERANS 1 LAY WREATH ON TOMB Citizens of Brussels Line Streets to Cheer Americans. BY GEORGE KENT United Press Staff Correspondent BRUSSELS. Sept. 23.—Memories of the World w*r were brought back to the citizens of s he Belgian capital today as veterans of the Thirtyseventh division, Ohio contingent of the A. E. F., khaki-clad and decorated. marched through the streets, behind bands playing familiar American tunes. A formal reception was planned in their honor at the city hall today, to be followed by a visit to the field of Waterloo. Huge crowds of Belgians lined the streets to see the Americans march to the city hall, where they were received by high officials. On Sunday the Americans marched to the tomb of the Unknown soldier. Not since the Belgians left here to occupy the Ruhr has Brussels been stirred as when the Ohioans, with flags flying, marched to the tomb to lay a massive wreath upon the memorial which symbolizes the sacrifices made by Belgium during the war. General Jackson and AdjutantGeneral A. M. Reynolds held a wreath of gladioli and larkspur on either side of the tomb, while taps were being sounded. The wreath, laid by the Americans, covered the tomb entirely. Pierre Huart, representing various Belgian veterans* associations, thanked the Americans, in the name of Belgium.
