Radio RADIO TROUBLE CHECKUP MADE ON EAST SIDE High Voltage Lines Which Cross Power Circuit Are at Fault. BY W. A. JACOBY Time* Radio Interference Engineer For the last week the Indianapolis Times radio interference department has been working steadily to clear the east side radio interference, as hundreds of listeners have requested the aid of The Times in helping them find their trouble. This interference is constant, with greater volume at night, and almost covers the radio reception wave band, making enjoyment of radia programs almost an impossibilty. Several different interferences have been found during this survey and have been cleared, making reception somewhat better, but there remains a constant A. C. hum that appears to be of an inductive nature from another section of the city. A check of the Indianapolis Power and Light Company’s substations that supply current for the whole of the east side of Indianapolis was made, cutting each station out to find if the interference was coming from an origin w r ithin the power line company's circuits. After cutting out the 33.000-volt lines that run from one section of the city to another and making a check of them it was found that an interference was coming from other high voltage lines which cross the power company’s circuits. This, of course, forms anew angle to work on and will take additional time checking this interference to its origin, so that it may be eliminated. The Times radio interference engineer would like to hear from the radio fans in this district as to whether the reception has improved within the last three days. DEFINITE STAND WILL BE TAKEN BY CITUEAGUE Manager Candidates to Be to the Point on Big Issues. BY EDWIN V. O'NEEL Definite stand on important issues involved in the coming election will be set forth in the campaign platform of the Indianapolis City Manager League which is to be drafted soon. A committee headed by Edward O. Snethen, attorney and manager supporter, has held several meetings to discuss platform planks. Indications are that a campaign statement of the seven candidates will be announced Monday. Each of the league candidates for city commissioners will sign the pledge, according to Claude H. Anderson, campaign chairman. The candidates will commit themselves to the preservation of the Citizens Gas Company properties should the city obtain control of the utility after litigation is adjudicated. A suit in federal court on the transfer, under terms of the 1905 franchise is pending. MOTION PICTURES
