DEBT ROW NOT TO HALT U. S, COLLECTIONS German Dawes Payments Expected to Continue With No Interruptions. BY LYLE C. WILSON Cnited Pres* Staff Correspondent WASHINGTON. Aug. I*.—German payments to the United States in discharge of reparations obligations are expected to continue without interruption, regardless of the fate of the Young plan over which politicians are battling at * The Hague, officials informed the United Press today. "I don’t see how these payments could be interrupted,” an official said today. "Failure of The Hague confer>nre to adopt the Young plan would not, legally, absolve Germany from discharging her obligations under the Dawes plan. The payments would continue to be made to us in accordance with the Dawes plan schedules.” Collapse of The Hague conference, it waa suggested, might cause German payments to the United States during the next twelve months to he considerably larger than in the past year. Heretofore, it was exp’ained. the United States annually has waived ?ts prior claim on Germany for payment of the expenses of the American army which for a time shared in the occupation of German territory. If The Hague conference fails, ft is intimated the United States will exercise its prior rights under the Dawes plan to collect approximately 111.n00.00n annually until that debt is discharged. In addition, approximately $750.000 a month is due the Unifed States under the Dawes plan on account of claims of American citizens against Germany. The Dawes plan became operative Sept. 1, 1924. and it was expected to be superseded by the Young plan by next Sept. 1. its fifth birthday.

Result* of bacteriologist tests by investigators of the food, drug and insecticide administration of the agriculture department of more than 1.000 products described by their manufacturers as antiseptics have revealed that hundreds of the preparations were "misbranded and bearing false claims.” However, the department said that since the investigation, which has taken almost three years, the public can place more confidence in such preparations. "When manufacturers were advised to label their products truthfully to avoid violation of the federal food and drug act, the majority willingly and promptly did so,” the department announced. "They either revised tbfeir labels and directions or else changed their formulas to justify the claims made for the products.
