COPS CALLED OUT TO RESCUE TRAPPED BABY 2-Year-Old’s Foot Caught in Utilities Service Tap; Held Hour. His tears dried away, and smiles rrlievinK the worried mien he wore lor an hour Monday evening, Robert McAndrews, 2-year-old son of \lr and Mrs. J. L. McAndrews, 3438 Kenwood avenue, was still wondering today why service taps aren’t cailed foot traps. Playing in front of 3416 Kenwood avenue Monday, Bobbie thrust an inquisitive toe into the utilities servivc tap between the sidewalk and the curb. The ankle followed the toe. and the knee the ankle. “That's far enough,” Bobbie thought, and started to walk away. But the leg didn’t come out. He tugged again, and again, with no more satisfying results. Then he announced his predicament with a lusty yell. Neighbors flocked to aid the youngster, and they brought with ihem shovels and chisels, picks, hoes, garden rakes and no end of suggestions. But they aided little. Then police came with hammers and more chisels. They banged away until a section of the sidewalk was torn up. and with chisels rut through the pipe when, slick as* Jack Horner’s plum, out came Bobbie's foot, the tap. and all.
