! Sterling R. Holt will be an increase jof 7 cents over the 1929 rate if I council approves the figure. The city controller recommended ! to council a levy of 65 cents for the ! cents over 1929. The 1930 budget calls for appro- | priation of $4,876,000. estimating | there will be an unexpended balance of $97,000 at the end of the year. Miscellaneous receipts are estimated at $400,000 for next. year, the 65ccnt levy bringing in $4,413,000 on the $675,000,000 of taxable property. It is estimated that the taxable property value will be boosted $4,000,000. The general fund will have an estimated balance of $34,936, which Mayor Slack plans to have reappropriated to care ror emergencies in connection with the change to the city manager form. Jan. 1. Special levies and increases recommended by Slack administration leaders: Park, 6 cents, same: sanitary, 7 cents, same: health board, 10 cents, 1-cent increase; police and firemen's pension funs, 1 cent each;,
school health, 1 cent, same; recreation. 1.5 cents, .5 cent increase; tuberculosis fund, .5 cent, same; municipal improvement certificate fund, 4.2 cents, 2-cent increase; thoroughfare, 1.5 cents, same; track elevation, 2 cents, same; street resurfacing, 2 cents, same; sanitary bonds, 2.8 cents, 1-cent dropr park bonds, 3.75 cents, 1.75-cent inincrease; city sinking, 4.75 cc~ .75 cent increase; flood prever. bonds, 2.5 cents, 1-cent jump, dr.war memorial fund, 1 cent, same. Mayor Slack said the city sanitary board refused to accept the 7cent rate which was ordered in 1929. declaring the department could not operate on less than a 7cent levy. “We'll recommend 7 cents to the council,” Slack said. City Councilman Albert F. Meurer will make a final fight on the acceptance of the Pendleton Pike dog pound site donated by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Patrick. A remonstrance against accepting the land at Phipps street and Pendleton pike will be filed by property owners.
