COUPON BOOKS FOR TRACTION RIDES POPULAR $5 Worth of Travel Sold for $4 Under New Plan of Union Company. New mileage books containing $5 worth of penny coupons, which cost the purchaser $4. recently placed on sale by the Union Traction Company of Indiana, are proving extremely popular with the traveling public, according to Gaven Stuart, division passenger and freight agent at Indianapolis. Many business concerns are buying the books for use of their traveling representatives, inasmuch as two or more persons can ride on the book at one time, and a saving of 25 per cent is made by purchasing the mileage books, Suart said. The new form of ticket is acceptable as fare on the electric railways and bus lines operated by the Union Traction Company of Indiana and may be used any time within a year from date of sale. Many families have bought the book for use of various members of the family and have found that the convenience and saving to be accomplished through use of these mileage tickets is highly to their advantage. Travel to Northern Indiana lake resort points has been increased considerably by reason of the low round trip fare of $3, upon which rate, tickets are sold on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, good for return until Monday. The company also is selling round trip tickets at slightly hiy'~rr rates, good for return to Oct. Travel by way of the Union Traction lines on Saturdays and Sundays continues heavy, according to Stuart, attesting to popularity of the week-end fares of one way fare plus ten cents, between all Union Traction points as well as points on the Indiana Service Corporation, including Fort Wayne, Auburn, Waterloo and Lima.
