GIRL HITCH-HIKE SLAYER MAKES GOOD AS NURSE Graduates With Highest Honors: Once Stood Trial for Murder. y fiv r nilfi Pr* BUFFALO, July 17.—Loveda Boyle, who once stood trial for the killing of a motorist who had given her a lift while hitch-hiking, will graduate from the Buffalo city hospital nursing school with highest honors. Miss Boyle, whose home is in Oil City. Pa., has kept her promise which she made when acquitted on a murder charge in Youngstown, 0., that she would dedicate her life to humanity if freed. In the class of sixty graduating nurses she had an average of 98. It is her expectation to become a surgical nurse. While hitch-hiking from her home Miss Boyle was given a “lift" near Youngstown by two motorists. According to her testimony she •hot and fatally wounded the driver of the car when he attempted to force his attentions upon her. After the shooting she left the car and eventually returned to her home, where she later was arrested. ELEPHANTS GET LOOSE AND STAMPEDE CIRCUS Unscheduled Thriller Too Exciting for C^owd. July 17.—After seeing an unscheduled act that was a bit too thrilling, hundreds of circus fans were just as glad today that they had been denied the regular elephant performance of a circus here. Three of the pachyderms broke loose from their keepers Tuesday night as they were being led in and stampeded the length of the crowded tent. While the big top echoed with screams attendants brought the elephants to a halt, chained them and led them from the arena.

The bank had a capital of $1,000,000 and deposits of more than $3,000,000. Four of the branches were located in Tampa, and the remaining at Plant City, Braden,ton. Sarasota, Ft Meade and Dade City. July 17.—Tire Kuo Min news agency reported today that large quantities of opium had been discovered on the British gunboat Pater at Hankow.
