July B—The British empire even in its most remote reaches, gave thanks Sunday that its Kin? Promptly at 11 a. m. the Archb hop of Canterbury and other high dignitaries of the Church of EngTnd in their richest robes entered th west door of Westminster and r*rrched toward the altar while the Grenadier Guards band and the abbey organ rolled out the strains of the thanksgiving hymn. Immediately behind the churchmen walked the King and Queen. After the King and Queen were seated, there was a roll of drums Bnd the dean of the abbey arose and recited to the audience: ‘God save the King; God save this realm; God gave us thankful hearts.'' A fanfare of trumpets followed his words, and then the entire congregation arose and sang "God Save the King SALVATION ARMY TO INSTALL NEW CHIEFS Cclone! John \V. Hav and Mrs. Hay to Become State Commanders. One hundred state officers from the twenty-seven Salavation Army pests in Indiana will come to Indianapolis Wednesday, for the public installation of Colonel John W. Fiy and Mrs. Hay as state commanders. They will be installed by John McMillian. Chicago, territorial commander of the salvation army. The installation services will be held at 8 p. m. in the headquarters at Twenty-fourth street and North Capitol avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Hay succeed Brigadier William B. Sowers, Chicago, who is now state commander of Illinois. They will arrive in Indianapolis from Denver. Colo.. Tuesday. CUSTOMS SHOW DROP Reduction of $49,705 in Duty Collected Last Year Reported. Reduction of $40,705 in customs duty collected in Indiana the past fiscal year is shown in the annual report compiled by George M. Foland. collector of customs. Total collections for Indiana in ths past twelve months were $600,342, compared with $650,047 for the preceding year. Collections in the past year in the Indianapolis district were $331,217, compared with $360,496 the previous year. • Those for the Evansville district were $269,125, compared with $289,551 in 1928. RIVERSIDE FEDERATION WILL STAGE FESTIVAL Fete Friday at North Harding and Burdsal Boulevard.
