■PETTY' SCHOOL FUND SYSTEM BEING REVIVED Ordered Stopped Month Ago by Holt, Who May Change Mind. Unless someone can show school officials a satisfactory substitute for the board’s petty cash revolving fund system, ordered discontinued by Sterling R. Holt, city controller, a month ago, the system probably will be continued, C. C. York, school business director, said today. Early in June Holt ordered the system abolished as “irregular." Since then, York said, conferences with Holt apparently have convinced the latter of the lack of wisdom in entirely abolishing the system “It wosdd mean a heavy loss of money tlirough wasted time,” York said. “Under the petty cash system, school employes needing an article costing a small amount were authorized to buy the needed article themselves and be reimbursed from the fund. “Without the system, workmen you Id have to waste time in visiting the administration offices and obtaining a requisition. York also revealed that figures have been compiled showing that it costs the school city SI 50 to issue a requisition, figuring time of employes handling the requisition and other items. Petty cash funds of high school principals, ranging from SSO to S2OO each, have been called in, York said, but the SI,OOO fund of Frank L. Reissner, secretary, and the S3OO fund of the building and grounds department still are held. They probably will continue in effect. “High school principals will have to show us good reasons for their having petty cash funds before we will reissue such funds to them,” York said. Reissner explained the funds are issued to the holder, who uses the money for needed items from time to time, later having the fund reimbursed upon presentation of receipts.
