PAY ON TIME 1 MEDICAL PLAN DISCUSSED HERE . Watch Chicago Experiment * With Installment * ' Scheme. Installment payment of doctor hills, adopted by the Chicago Medical Society for families of moderate means, has also been discussed by the Indianapolis Medical Society and may be put Into effect here if .. the Chicago experiment proves successful. according to Dr. C. A. Stray- 1 ton, 313 Humc-Mansur building, secretary of the local society. "Dr. M. L. Harris, president-elect; of the American Medical Association, is the big backer of the installment scheme of payment Dr. | Strayton declared today. "He has lectured to our society on its ad- ■ vantages and many of the members are very receptive toward it. "It will take some time to work out details of financing under the plan and as yet we are not prepared.” Medical Budget Plan. a In Chicago the arrangement has •%*n called the "Modem Medical Budget, Plan.” Its purpose is to finance worthy sick persons on a cost basis, making it possible for j the patients to pav in weekly or monthly Installments commensurate with their means. In explaining the plan Dr. James H. Hutton, president-elect of the Chicago society, asserted that it "simply adapts to the sick the modern method of financing employed by the automobile, radio and other industries.” In Chicago the doctor will contribute 16.63 per cent of his fee to j the financing organization, receiving j 86.37 of the total fee when all pay- j ments are made. Should the patient I default, the doctor will get but 35 j per cent, paid by the financing company. Opposes Clinics. While looking with some degree of approval on the partial payment plan of financing, Dr. Strayton is unalterably opposed to the community idea of hospitalization as proposed by Dr. Francis Graham || Crookshank, London physician, in the July issue of the Forum.
