Aviation FIVE AIR-RAIL LINES SOON TO BE IN SERVICE Nation Will Be Covered by Network of Routes by Autumn. !/ Unite* CHICAGO. June 21.—Five combined air-rail passenger lines between the Atlantic and Pacific will be in operation within the next few •Weeks, according to the American Air Transport Association. Two already are offering service, One flying over the 1.417-mile route from Los Angeles to Kansas City in twelve flying hours. * This service makes but two intermediate stops, at Albuquerque, N. M., and Amarillo. Tex. At Kansas City the line connects with any of the half dozen railroads operaing from that city to the east. Another air line has started to meet westbound New York City trains at Cleveland, taking passengers from Pullmans early in the morning and flying them to Chicago and from Kansas City to Garden City, Kan., where the passengers board the train again for the remainder of the trip to the west coast. Big Line to Start. ■ Starting the first part of July the most ambitious of the air-rail projects will begin with trains taking east coast passengers from New York to Columbus, O. Transfer of passengers frjm train to plane will be made at a specially built airport adjacent to the tracks with a day flight following across Missouri and Kansas as far as Waynoka, Okla. ' They will be carried by train all night to Clovis, N. M.. where waiting planes will fly them into Los Angeles. This is also a forty-eight-hour coast-to-coast train-plane service. The latter part of the summer or early fall, equipment on the present Chicago-San Francisco air mail route will be augmented by specially built multi-motored passenger planes which will fly the entire 143-mile route between the Windy City and the Golden Gate. Company Now Operating. This company already is operating , the larger equipment, between San 1 Francisco and Salt Lake City and 1 is the only air transport concern * which regularly flies passengers at j night. Flies 3.330 Miles J. H. McDuffee, /ice-president .•. Prest-O-Lite Storage Battery Corporation, landed at Capitol Airport today, after a ten-day air trip in the Prest-O-Lite plane. Since June 10. McDuffee has been in the air thirty-two hours, flown 3,300 miles, and visited distributors of Prest-O-Lite batteries in Dallas. Kansas City, Ft. Worth, Wichita, Waco. Houston, San Antonio, Memphis, Little Rock and Shreveport. The route carried the “Vision of Prest-O-Lite” over Indiana, Illinois, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky, and is the most ambitious business flight undertaken by an Indianapolis executive. Dick Knox piloted the plane. McDuffee kept in close touch with his office during the trip and handled his correspondence, a dictating machine, part of the office equipment aboard the plane. Mrs. Noyes, attired in helmet, goggles, and a thin, sleeveless dress, was flying the route between Santa Monica and Cleveland in preparation for participating in the women's race between the two cities in connection with the Cleveland air races this fall. While here she obtained weather reports for the remainder of the trip. Curtiss now is able to provide weather reports for any part of the country. Hangar Being Completed The new $75,000 hangar of Curtiss Flying Service of Indiana will
be completed in two weeks, H. Weir Cook, general manager, said. C. S. Russell, Curtiss hangar engineer, arrived Thursday to inspect the work on the hangar. Two engineering experts from the General Airplanes Corporation, makers of the ships, will accompany the tour in one of the planes, and will keep constant watch on the performance of the sky fleet. The work of the small radial motors will be carefully checked and examinations for fuel consumption and wear made at each airport. Flight conditions at various altitudes and under different atmospheric obstacles, landing and takeoff speeds, flexibility of controls, and many other factors will be included in the researches to be conducted.

MAN, 65, DISAPPEARS Veteran Railway Man Missing on Way to Doctor. Police aid in ihe search for Henry F. Bade, 65, of 224 West Twentyninth street, for forty-six years an employe of the Pennsylvania Railway Company, was asked by relatives today after he disappeared Thursday afternoon. Leaving his home at 1:30 p. m. to keep an appointment with a railway physician at union station. Bade vanished. He had been in ill health for some time. He wore a dark gray suit apd black shoes, a white figured shirt, a blue tie and leghorn hat.
