Stars Strive to Reach City Tennis Finals
Annua! Tourney Nears End as Play Continues Rapidly. MANY MATCHES CARDED Four Prominent Players in Men’s Singles. Serru-final struggles in the annual city tennis tournament held the '*age today at the Hawthorn Club as the cream of Indianapolis' racquet aces made their bids to reach the final rounds of play. Julius Sagalowsky, defending men's singles champion, was to clash with Bud Markey, the Notre Dame star, at 2 and at 3:30. Tommy Wilson. Butler ace and 1928 runner- ■ ip. was to battle Dick Bastian. Ir. the women's singles. Louis Marie was scheduled to tangle with Betty Preston at 5:30 to decide which shall meet the champion, Catherine Wolf, in the finals. Semi-finals in the junior singles T ’ ere to be played at 4:30 and at 6, Emmett Lowery playing Jean Demmary and Bob McCullough facing T. Lysaght.
