"Other evidence almost daily has iartlcd the country in the magnitude of the investment of the trust in newspapers in various parts of the country." Norris declared, "but the inve 'igation of the Mobile newspaper situation discloses that where the trust could not buy a newspaper, they did not hesitate- to establish a newspaper. "In order to cover their tracks in Mobile. Logan Martin loaned the money to Abner Aldrcdge. Aldrcdge loaned the money to Joseph McGowin McGowin loaned the money to R. B. Chandler, the subscriber to the stock in the new paper.” Norris said jhat until this evidence was brought out the “power

Beech Grove, has been awarded honorable mention in the advanced amateur group of the fifth annual competition of small sculptures in white soap for the Proctor and Gamble prizes amounting to $1,600.' UNCERTAIN ON DATE FOR POPE TO LEAVE VATICAN Elaborate Ceremonies Arc Expected to Greet Pontiff. /:" ’ nit' ,I IT' sx VATICAN CITY, June 21.—The probable time when Pope Pius II will emerge from the Vatican, the first pope to do so since 1870, has caused considerable speculation in Vatican City and Rome. The date most frequently mentioned at present is June 29, far enough away to enable papal authorities to complete arrangements for the elaborate ceremonies demanded by the importance of the occasion. Msgr. Caccia Dominioni, papal master of the household, informed the United Press, however, that no date yet has been set, but that the pope certainly would leave the Vatican, since he now' has his independent government and the formal recognition by the Italian government.
Road Bids to be Received. ANDERSON. Ind., June 21—Two county unit road contracts to be awarded Saturday by the Madison county commissioners still attract bidders from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky. Bids will be received for the paving of a road from Pendleton through Lapel to the Hamilton county line at an estimated cost of $345,000 and for extending West Eighth street pavement to Hamilton on an estimate of $44,000.

PROBE PHONE CHARGE Installation Schedule Is Taken Up by State. Investigation of the necessity for installation charges made by telephone companies was ordered today by the public service commission.

The present schedule has been in effect since the commission way created. It ranges from 50 cents to $3.50 for companies with more than 10.000 subscribers and from $2 to 50 cents under that number. Several companies have requested permission to abolish this service charge for stated periods to encourage new subscribers and the commissioners decided that the entire matter should be investigated by their engineers and accountants.
